Fireplace inserts are designed to be installed in to a functioning fireplace, masonry or zero clearance (ZC) with a stainless steel liner pipe extended from the insert through the existing chimney all the way to the top. This “retrofit” converts your poor functioning fireplace in to an efficient heater. Many insert manufacturers offer small, medium, and large inserts for different heating needs. Fireplace Inserts can be made from steel or cast iron and burn either wood, pellet or gas fuels. Each insert has many options available.
Small inserts can heat up to 800 to 1200 sq. ft., Medium inserts can heat up to 1000 to 2200 sq. ft., and Large inserts can heat over 2000 sq. ft. depending upon the model. Other factors will vary the appliance heating capacity such as home exposure, insulation factor, windows/glass heat loss to mention a few.
Any questions about these inserts please feel free to contact us. We look forward to answering your questions.
Note: If you are within the SCAQMD’s jurisdiction, restrictions may apply to installation and use of a wood burning stove.
To help us determine what insert will fit into your fireplace, print out the Fireplace Measure Form and fill in the dimensions. Email, FAX or bring this in to the store. This will help us guide you to the appropriate appliance to suit your needs.
